Basic sac fillers
Only by removing the barrel from the pen, you can verify its sac. After exposing sac, you should be able to fond it flexibly. It would be better to replace the sac if you find it very rigid. Even neophyte can repair the sac pens. Silicone rubber sacs are better than natural latex, so, it would be quite better in choosing silicone one.
Piston filler pens
Problems may occur in piston filler even if quality new piston fillers such as Pelikans and Montblancs are generally long lasting. Frizzing of piston to barrel wall by long-dried ink is huge headache with piston pen. Well, it's easy to spirit away its frozen barrel by using an optic syringe or irrigator.
Touchdown
Firstly, you should remove the barrel of touchdown pen. The technician removes metal protector covering sac. The protector of all sac wreckage inside is cleaned, and then replaced over the sac and onto the section. Then using flat-blade screwdriver, technician loosen the screw that holds the blind cap onto the chrome filler tube. Through the mouth of the barrel, the filler tube is pushed out after removing the blind cap. The rubber o-ring that fits into a groove inside the back of the barrel is gently replaced by technician. He patiently replaces the new o-ring coated with silicone grease in its accurate place. Lastly, thin coat of silicone grease is lubricated in the filler tube and place the barrel back at its proper place and put on the blind cap by screwing.
Snorkel
The process of renovation of barrel and filler tube of snorkel pen almost similar the Touchdown pen. However, refurbishment of snorkel is quite difficult because it takes a bit more effort in replacing its sac. The barrel is first removed and it only remains filler tube. The technician place both spring and filler tube out the mouth area of the barrel after unscrewing the blind cap. The o-ring in the back of the barrel must be replaced. The snorkel spring should be gently cleaned or replaced after inspecting the rust.
It is surely best time to clean the entire pen's part thoroughly after pen parts are apart. All of these can be soaked or placed in an ultrasonic tank. To break up any clogs inside, it would be better to carefully inserting a stiff wire or other small probe.
