Esterbrook Fountain Pens - History
R. Esterbrook & Co. started producing fountain pens during early 20th century but it's true that they were popular for their dip pens and points, which they had been manufacturing since before the U.S. civil war. Few believe the Esterbrook as a high-priced pen but that's greater mistake. Esterbrook provides the outstanding service to students, clerical personnel, nurses, and others whose need to write could not be indulges with a more expensive instrument.
The user-replaceable renew point was the major appealing feature of the Esterbrook J. This wasn't a new idea, because Waterman (and others) had already offered replaceable points as far back as the 1920s.
Renew word generally recommend to replacement of point that wore or corroded, but Esterbrook points never seem to wear or corrode. But the fact is Esterbrook offered wide range of points that people used to carry several around them in order to revolutionize the writing personality of their pen as their will. These points were all steel, and were identified by number; those in the 9xxx series and called as "Master Points"
The Esterbrook Wonderiter Fountain Pen
The Esterbrook had a progressively more tough moment competing with low-priced ballpoint pens as like as the majority of the remaining small fountain-pen firms. It doesn't mean that they're not trying to innovate when their old-fashioned lever filler pens demand fades. Wonderiter, an interesting hybrid of the fountain pen and the fiber-tip pen that was introduced at 1960s is the good example of their attempt. The concept of Daniel Hechter and by Pelikan regarding use of fountain-pen-style liquid ink cartridges with stylus-like points is better to be picked up earlier to our time.
Esterbrook pastel purse pen
These pens are cheap in cost and never been intolerably expensive unless you tend to find a pastel model, a nurse set or similar other rare model that are difficult to grab out. The best example of such rare model is an early model with the "two-hole" clip, or one with unusual color.
Esterbrook develops lots of their very elegant desk holder in addition to their standard pocket pen, which characteristically appears like sheared-off billiard balls. They also presented taper desk pens and these types of pens were more often used as presidential bill signer to sign copies of legislation during the beginning of 1960s.
