For some reason, I have a pen fetish. Especially nice looking silver pens that are quite large and heavy. I've been looking for one that wouldn't break my bank and found this on Amazon. I decided to treat myself for a change, and I am very glad I did. This pen suits my every desire in a pen. Silver, nicely balanced, excellent writing, and beautiful to look at. I've never had a fountain pen before, I've always been a rollerball user, never ever a ball point pen user. Something tells me that I won't ever use another rollerball pen unless it's made by Lamy. This pen is so very very nice!

For people who love being sophisticated, this is an extraordinary piece of art. Simple but delicate, it has a beautiful and soft way to write. It was perfect for my wife's present.

I have had my Lamy Studio (palladium/14K M nib) for about two years, now. I have a lot of other fountain pens (Montegrappa, Waterman, Sheaffer and a host of Parker 51's), but have found this to be the pen I take when I travel, and one to which I frequently return for everyday use. The barrel is not narrow, but is comfortable. If I had a complaint, it might be that the palladium finish on the grip can be slippery at times, but that's a minor quibble. The 'sideways' clip is a classic design, as is the two-toned gold nib, which has a bit of flex in it--enough for a bit of character. With the cap posted on the end, it is very well balanced, and there's no drag from its weight that I've noticed. It is a very smooth writer, putting down a perfect amount of ink. I have used it with both cartridges (for travel) and converter (at home) with great success with a number of other different inks: Noodlers, Parker, and Private Reserve. No problem, no clogging. I do a lot of writing, and the pen I most exchange this with is a Sailor Professional that has an incredible 21K nib, sort of common-looking resin body, and cost three times as much. Here, for a very reasonable price, you get remarkable styling, a great gold nib, and a pen that is classy and a workhorse. If you like fountain pens, this is one you will love. If you don't know much about them, this is a very good one in a great price bracket. (For a beginner writing a normal line, I might recommend a M or F nib rather than an XF, which can be pretty spidery)

A lovely pen and writes smoothly although advertised as extra fine I rate it as a medium.

I own Parker Duofolds, Mont Blanc and numerous other Lamy pens and this pen is by far the best. I bought a fine point and it is very fine, bordering on extra fine. But it doesn't matter because the nib is phenomenal - I am using it in my Moleskine journal and it does not bleed, scratch - it is silky smooth. Love the pen and it is priced to be an every day pen.
