Mont Blanc Fountain Pens
High quality Mont Blanc Fountain Pens are made in Germany. The manufacturer of writing implements and watches known as Montblanc produces quality that is designed to be superior in every way. Originally the name was Simplo Filler Pen, a company that produced pens for the up market. First models included the 1909 Rouge Et Noir model which was followed up by the Mont Blanc in 1910. This model gave the company its new name. Today the Montblanc name graces many other fine quality goods including jewelry, fragrances, watches, eyewear, and leather goods. In 1934 they introduced their first piston filler fountain pens and later on dropped the low priced items in favor of luxury stock of superior quality in all their goods.

The Meisterstück fountain pen model, cornerstone of the Mont Blanc writing implements, is the most popular with the yearly addition of the Limited Editions models and the POA or Patron of the Art Series. The Writers Edition series honors a different individual each year by having their signature engraved in the cap of his or her year’s edition. They may be finished with a Mother of Pearl Montblanc Star on the cap. These Writer’s Editions are reasonably priced yet make a fair profit due to the popularity of that model which changes each year, making it highly collectible. Other fountain pen models include the Annual Edition, Special Theme Edition, Donation series, and America’s Signatures for Freedom from which a minimum of one and a half million dollars is donated for UNICEF each year.
The history of fountain pens goes back centuries with the mass production making them affordable to the general public since the mid 1800’s. Making them easier to fill and less messy to use meant they won out over the lead pencil in popular means of writing tools. In spite of today’s use of computer programs and word processing equipment, the Montblanc Fountain Pens remains popular with purists who prefer to write with their own hand and have a creative flair for beautiful script.
